How to Use a Pyrolysis Furnace?

  1. Preparation:
    • The materials to be placed in the pyrolysis furnace (biomass, plastic, rubber, etc.) are prepared. Ensuring these materials are dry increases the efficiency of the pyrolysis process.
  2. Loading the Material:
    • The prepared materials are placed inside the pyrolysis furnace. Materials should be loaded according to the furnace's capacity and instructions.
  3. Setting the Furnace:
    • The furnace is set to a specific temperature (usually between 400-800°C). This temperature is necessary for the pyrolysis process.
    • The amount of oxygen is controlled. Since the pyrolysis process occurs in an oxygen-free or low-oxygen environment, the furnace's air inlets and outlets are adjusted.
  4. Heating:
    • The furnace is heated to the set temperature. During this process, the material is exposed to heat and undergoes pyrolysis.
    • During pyrolysis, organic materials decompose into gaseous, liquid (pyrolytic oil), and solid (charcoal) products.
  5. Collecting the Products:
    • After the pyrolysis process is complete, the resulting products are collected. Gases, liquids, and solid waste are collected and processed separately.
    • Gases are typically used in energy production, liquids are utilized as biofuel, and solid products are used as biochar in agriculture or energy production.
